No, in fact most tents do not require a floor as long as the surface under the tent is level and dry. For those events where it's important to protect the surface under the tent from damage or for elegant/formal events we recommend using a floor. Also, when using climate control it helps to have a floor as it serves as a barrier from the ground and promotes a comfortable feeling for the guests.
There are many flooring options to choose from for a tent. Your specific event location will determine the best solution. We have an economical plastic floor called Portapath that can be used to cover short grass, asphalt, or concrete. Portapath is typically for walkways or under tents requiring a more finished look.
The 4'x4' stage deck is a more versatile floor for tents. Each deck is made of a steel frame with plywood top. The decks are able to support extreme loads, and are elevated to allow water to run underneath. If the grade requires leveling, this is ideal as adjustable leg supports can correct for slope or poor grade of the land. We recommend a turf or carpet overlay for comfort and aesthetic appeal.
